Well, like many, I never thought I would see the day of doing my nails again, but here we are! With every salon from here to Timbuktu closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, us woman are now learning how to become nail technicians.
I’ve been wearing dip on my fingernails now for over a year. It’s a service I am not willing to part with. Regardless of the times we are in, I still want my hands to maintain a feminine look. And well, to be honest, I love painted fingernails. I love changing my color according to the season. I love the fact that I can have a longer nail with the help of a dip overlay. Dip nails are a service I treat myself to, and that’s not going to change.
Now that I will be doing this service at home, the minimal investment of purchasing a starter kit is pennies to what I would be spending at the nail salon. Now, of course, there is no price on the relaxing, spa-like atmosphere. Spa music has now become screaming kids. A therapeutic massage has now become a two-minute Jergens rub, and hell, who has time for a paraffin dip! Pick and choose your battles. Ha!
From start to finish, the dip application is a pretty simple one. All kits come with step by step instructions, and many with illustrations. An important tip is to be patient. Especially if it has been a while since you did your own nails. Don’t be so hard on yourself if they don’t look flawless after the first try. While it seems easy, these professional nail technicians have been doing this day in and out for years and have perfected their craft. Pat yourself on the back, and considering with every application, YOU perfecting your new craft.
